"Thank you for including lecture notes. I just finished listening while following along with the lecture notes. I was very impressed at both your presentation and explanations. Although I am learning the potentials of Neural Net Algorithms, you made the complex concepts very understandable. Very rarely do I hear technically minded persons present complex subject matter in a personable way. Your presentation was wonderfully enjoyable." -- Doug Williams [primoresults @yahoo .com]

"This book offers valuable information on a variety of critical subjects. It assembles the ideas of many authors into four sections: (1) Basic Trading Skills and Methods, (2) Testing and Evaluation, (3) Assessing the Market and Yourself, and (4) Advanced Indicators and Forecasting. Mark Jurik has made a significant contribution to the field of computerized trading by editing this very valuable resource book and making the collective experiences and wisdom of many experts available in one book. Drew Sands [DrewSands @ aol .com]

"Your "Neural Networks & Financial Forecasting" book is a great resource for my neural network studies. -- Jouni K., Finland

"I recently purchased and greatly enjoyed reading "Neural Networks and Financial Forecasting". Excellent material and very well written, I might add. Some parts I understood immediately, others will require more study and research." -- Terry Jagiello [Spirit56 @ aol .com]

"I am writing to thank you for all of your assistance and guidance over the last few weeks ... I also want to tell you how important to me your analysis tools and essays are. Your book "Neural Networks and Financial Forecasting" is by the far the best written and most informative book available. I have recommended it to all of the other traders I know, who are utilizing neural networks. I have read your "white papers" concerning BackPercolation, WaveSamp, and DDR and am extremely excited about acquiring them and putting them to use in my own trading. -- Andrew Peskin, President, A. S. Peskin & Company Ltd., Charlottesville, Virginia

"I received and read carefully your collection of papers on Neural Networks and Financial Forecasting. I feel comfortable recommending this work based upon the following points: 1) It is quite broad in scope yet specific enough with examples so that almost any reader will eliminate many "blind alley efforts" in their own system development. 2) Again, your book triggers ideas for inclusion in, or modification of, one's own system that otherwise would have never occurred. Thanks again for your help with my own efforts! -- Bert H. Berrong, Vulcan, Inc.

"Neural Networks and Financial Forecasting is a collection of notes and articles which provide a wealth of ideas on neural networks that I have found very stimulating. ... It is all very good, solid stuff. Fascinating reading." -- Dr. Mike York, San Rafael CA.

"A few months ago I purchased the report compilation "Neural Networks and Financial Forecasting", and not too long thereafter bought a license for JMA, WAV, etc. Although I don't currently have the depth to fully understand all the theory you've presented in the technical papers, I am impressed by your attention to both the theoretical basis and practical application of NNs to the markets. It kinda feels like being in school again ... lecture and lab." -- Rick Ace [raxaar @ yahoo .com]

"Your piece "Developing Indicators for Financial Trading" was rich in content and a model of lucidity. I look forward to reading your other articles." -- G.H. Altadena, California

"Thank you for the papers on neural networks; both were informative. Not to suck-up or anything, but I consider the paper you wrote to be much more understandable than the one by Kohonen. It gave me exactly what I was looking for. A good clean description, heuristically and algorithmically, of how back error propagation in neural networks work." -- P.M. Milpitas, California

"I want to comment that your book "Financial Forcasting and Neural Networks" has many excellent and novel ideas that can't be found elsewhere. I feel this book is valuable to anyone seriously interested in the subject." -- Richard Schell, Redondo Beach, California

"I consider reading a book such as yours an absolute prerequisite in the monumentally challenging venture of trading system development using neural nets. I believe reading some of your articles have saved me weeks and months of work which may or may not have resulted in success!" -- Farid Moslehi [fmoslehi @ worldnet .att .net]

"The audio and book are fantastic. My understanding of how the financial modeling process works is growing by orders of magnitude very quickly now. Thank you so much for such outstanding products. It really makes a difference." -- Tom Nunamaker [tom @ toshop .com]

"The first column of DDR's output produced better results for us than using all five original indicators. DDR is amazing." -- Bank in Frankfort, Germany

"Just wanted to say again how well your tools work. I am substantially improving the preprocessing for BioComp Profit 2001 by using WAV2, CFB, VEL, DDR2 and RSX. I believe that WAV2 and DDR2 are responsible for the majority of the improvement. BioComp Profit does not apparently decorrelate the predictors well. Out-of-sample results (on Nasd100 end-of-day) are so good as to be almost not believable. As a result I went back a month and generated basically an "old" model, where I never even gave Profit the "extra" validation data. After the model was built, I gave it the truly unseen data (25 market days), and it continued to perform in the same excellent manner as before. I continue to find that using VEL, CFB, then WAV to the index and the VEL index, then DDRing the whole thing helps creates about 50% more simulated equity inside the BioComp Systems Profit product. Thanks." -- Bill Wightman [bwightma @ swbell .net]

"Thank you very much for your excellent preprocessing tools (WAV & DDR). They really enhance our neural network training on financial data." -- Michael K., Berlin, Germany

"I've bought from you DDR and WaveSamp [WAV] and they work great....I've used WaveSamp along with Datalogic's Reduct package to develop an equity trading system for a major bank in an emerging market. All the rules are embedded into SuperCharts, with lagged indicators produced by WaveSamp ... which the bank runs every night for about 200 stocks. The results are excellent. Average monthly return, for the last six months (unseen data for the model) of their portfolio is 15% in a relatively quiet market. They are absolutely ecstatic." -- Christos Skalkos, [70313,2720 (Compuserve)]

"I have been privileged to buy your program in my desire to bring order to an apparently chaotic set of data. Your products are very exciting and extremely easy to use." -- E.B. London, U.K.

"I've just finished passing my first set of data through WAV and DDR. It works very well and so far I am very impressed!!" -- Phil Davis [philhdavis @ home .com]

"I have found your material to be useful and quite interesting. I am in the process of writing a textbook ... and plan to include some detailed discussions (highly favorable) of the software in your toolkit." -- J.I. Charlottesville, Virginia

"I have been using three of Mark Jurik's products (e.g. DDR) as part of inputs in our Bond neural network forecastor. His products have significantly improved the accuracy of our bond forecasting model. I can only highly recommend his products for any serious neural network developer or trade system developer. I will be calling him soon and will be ordering two of his new products which are the Ultra-Smooth velocity add-in and the Composite Fractal Behavior. --Robert J.Van Eyden, South Africa (posted 6SEP96 in Usenet newsgroup comp.ai.neural-nets)

"As usual, your software as well as your support continue to impress and amaze! Thank you for creating several WORKS OF ART! Keep up the good work!" -- Barney Toma, Culver City, California

"Thank you very much. I do use Braincell (a good product) and will now try using DDR on the less significant neural inputs. Keep up the good work on your products! I do not work in the financial/investment modelling area but your products are very useful generic tools for other forms of quantitative modelling. -- Robert Dennett, Sydney, Australia

"I've got Ruggiero's "Cybernetic Trading Strategies" and think its a great book. ... between the specific neural net target suggestions found in the book and Mark Jurik's tools (DDR) I've been making progress on lowering the error rate on predicting a Metastock-Stochastic ..." -- Steven Buss, Walnut Creek, California

"I just wanted to let you know that I am thoroughly satisfied with your tools that I purchased. I originally was only going to buy the Jurik Moving Average (JMA) but after doing a fair amount of research I determined that in order to get the most out of my data, that I would need the additional tools as well. I think that this a point most analysts and traders miss. Your tool suite gives me the opportunity to perform a complete time series analysis knowing that I have not missed any of the critical steps necessary to assure better trading performance.
...
I have so far made 7 short-term trades, all in the correct direction (time will tell if this is a lucky roll). I have this pre-processing procedure automated in Excel with a batch programming language called WinBatch. The point is that your pre-processing routines (DDR and WAV) continue to squeeze useful info out like no other programs I am aware of. So I cautiously, but profitably continue up the equity curve. The accuracy makes me want to jack up the exposure and throw caution to the wind. I have been there before, not a good idea. Thanks." -- Bill Wightman [bwightma @ swbell .net]

.

Each day using the suite opens new doors of understanding the secrets of my data. I agree with you that most traders gloss over the data preprocessing step because its involved. But the market does not give up its secrets easily. Using your tool suite, however, has given me the belief that I can extract the relevant information and then use it to create more profitable trades. Thanks for the easy to use and high quality software." -- Dennis M. King [dmking @ mediacity .com]

"I ran Jurik's WAV on a couple of different time series of indicators and noticed that the spreadsheet formulas remain constant. They don't change based on any kind of time series analysis of the indicator and that is a good thing.

Thanks again for your help, I really appreciate the support you provide on your products. That's a rare thing these days. Please give my best regards to Mark." -- Terry Jagiello [TJagiello @Wideopenwest .com]

"Your software suite is a trememdous asset in my modeling work." -- Dennis M. King, [dmking @ mediacity .com]

"I've had a significant BREAKTHROUGH with WAV/DDR and a neural net in trying to forecast a Stochastic for the S&P a couple bars out. ... the initial evidence is that it's possible to get the neural net error rate at least down into the 8% area AND to forecast oscillator turns. The practical implication of this, of course, is to significantly increase the odds of successfully day-trading SP futures. Can you tell I'm psyched!!" -- Steven Buss, Walnut Creek, California
